NB Don’t do this unless you *really* know what you’re doing. Plaster of Paris undergoes an exothermic reactions as it sets. IOW it generate heat. A big block like that can generate a lot of heat, which can’t escape easily (that pesky surface area to volume ratio problem). There have been cases in the UK of children receiving horrific burns from attempting to make casts of their hands in a sink or bowl.
