Anne Hathaway (aka Catwoman) is handcuffed in The Dark Night Rising:
Haven’t seen the movie yet, but I don’t imagine those cuffs slow her down very much!

I realize I’m looking at the picture out of context, but it exemplifies a major peeve I have about the bondage so often used in mainstream films and television: it’s purely token and ludicrously ineffective. I have seen *so* many scenes in which some character’s wrists are tied, or cuffed, in front, during which the action suggests that the “victim” has been completely incapacitated and rendered helpless by doing that. The character in such bondage seems unable to rise from the chair they are sitting in or use their hands for any form of resistance (or indeed raise them up out of their lap). It’s as ridiculous as letting a handshake stand in for torrid sex, or having every gun, when fired, unfurl a little flag out of its barrel that says “Bang.” Yes, there have been nice exceptions (Pat Powers knows them all, I think), but jeez.
I am so sending this on – I saw this movie, but this still is still perfect for my Sir!
I know most of them prior to 2009 when I kind fell into Second Life. Don’t watch movies much any more, or TV. But thanks for the kind words!
I haven’t seen the movie, so perhaps at this point her identity as Catwoman is not yet known by her captors. But if it were, the considerate thing to do would be to fasten her to a scratching post.
I think she’d appreciate that.
